ラグを切り出して作成したバッグ。
19世紀、欧米ではオリエンタルラグを使用した旅行かばんが人気を博し、それらはカーペットバッグと呼ばれた。
ラグが素材として使用されたのは残布を安く手に入れることができたからと言われているが、旅行の荷物を収納すると同時に、暖房のない車両内で暖かさを保つことができ一石二鳥だったようだ。
